Despite the announcement of suspension of execution of the sentence. Political prisoner Mohi’edin Ebrahimi executed in Urmia Central Prison along with at least six other prisoners.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, quoted by Hengaw website, on the morning of Friday, March 17, 2023. Political prisoner Mohi’edin Ebrahimi executed in Urmia Central Prison.
The execution of this political prisoner carried out while his family was informed the night before that the execution of his death sentence had been suspended.
Mohi’edin Ebrahimi’s family, together with other people and families of prisoners, gathered in front of Urmia Central Prison on Thursday night, March 16, demanding the cancellation of the death sentence for him and other prisoners. In the same night, his son Fakhreddin Ebrahimi was arrested by security agents in front of Urmia prison.
According to the received reports, 10 political prisoners started a hunger strike to protest against the transfer of Mohi’edin Ebrahimi to execution. These ten striking prisoners have been transferred to solitary cell as punishment.
On Saturday, November 4, 2017. Political prisoner Mohi’edin Ebrahimi was shot by the forces stationed at Bemazarteh Oshnavieh base while he was carrying out kolbari. But he was arrested in the same condition despite being seriously injured.
Mohi’edin was sentenced to death for the second time
This laborer and political prisoner was tried by the second branch of Urmia Revolutionary Court on Saturday, January 18, 2020. This court was chaired by a person named “Qazi” Sheikh Lu. Mohi’edin sentenced to death for the second time on charges of “treason” and “membership in the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran” and this sentence was announced to him the same day.
Previously, he sentenced to death by the second branch of Urmia Revolutionary Court in October 2018 on charges of cooperation and membership in the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran.
Mohi’edin Ebrahimi 42 years old, married and father of a disabled child and a resident of Elkawi village in Oshnavieh . He was arrested earlier in 2010 by the security forces and imprisoned for 14 months.
