Exposure of brutal torture and dire situation of 2 imprisoned brothers, written by a compatriot
The detainees and prison authorities attempted to coerce the 2 brothers, Mohammad and Mehdi Khodakarami, into forced confessions through brutal physical and psychological torture.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, the two brothers detained in Esfand 1401 (February/March 2023) by security forces and subjected to torture. Interrogators and prison officials tried to force confessions from the two brothers through physical and psychological torture.
A letter from one of their fellow citizens describes some of the torture inflicted on them. To maintain the security of this countryman, the identity protected by us.
This fellow writes in the letter:
In February 2023, two brothers named Mohammad and Mehdi Khodakarami arrested in Tehran and immediately taken for interrogation and torture.
Mehdi and Mohammad Khodakarami are from Khorramabad and live in the village of Navakesh Chogani.

Mohammad was born in 1991 and as a result of the torture, he suffered fractures in his head, nose, and other areas, while Mehdi, born in 1981, suffered fractures in his head, ears, ribs, and other areas.
The blows to Mohammad Khodakarami’s head were such that he remained unconscious for 3 days, and the criminals thought he had suffered a brain injury. The prison doctor had said that Mohammad needed to be taken to an outside hospital, so Mohammad forcibly transferred to the hospital, and they had taken a CT scan of him.
Tthese 2 brothers deprived of their minimum rights
From the beginning of their arrest to the end of the interrogation process, these 2 brothers were deprived of the minimum right to make a call, communicate with their family, have visits, or have a lawyer.
Despite the severity of the injuries due to torture and the doctor’s approval for urgent treatment, the prison authorities condition the treatment of Mohammad Khodakarami on collaborating with the notorious information and resort to threats and intimidation, even offering him money. However, this resilient prisoner stands firm and resists the mercenaries.
Mohammad Khodakarami has been on a hunger strike in Evin prison in protest against the torture and mistreatment by the criminal interrogators and has been on a hunger strike for 32 days. However, the regime’s authorities refrained from giving him the hunger strike form and tried to break this prisoner, but they failed in the face of Mohammad’s determination and will.
Mohammad, who had become severely weak and suffered from various illnesses, especially gastrointestinal diseases, as a result of a 32-day hunger strike, deprived of any treatment and medical attention by the prison authorities. For 4 months, he was left without medication or treatment, while severely weakened due to the hunger strike.

Finally, on April 6, 2023, these two prisoners transferred from Evin Prison to Kermanshah Prison, where they subjected to torture and interrogation for 2 months. Ultimately, in a show trial without legal representation, on August 9, 2023, in the Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court in Kermanshah, presided over by Judge Mozafar Gholami, each of them was sentenced to 3 and 4 years of penal servitude, with the maximum punishment of 4 years (considering the days of detention) being applicable for each.
Deprivation of the right to medical treatment due to hunger strike
Even though Mohammad Khodakarmi had suffered from various illnesses due to a prolonged hunger strike, he deprived of the right to treatment. When he protested to the judge about the lack of medical attention and the inability to receive treatment, the judge bluntly told him that even if he continued the hunger strike for 6 months, it would have no effect. Eventually, with the pressure from his family, Mohammad sent to the hospital for treatment after 4 months. However, the cruel prison guards refrained from giving him the medication prescribed by the doctor and when his family managed to obtain the expensive medication and sent it to him with the prison officials’ permission, the guards stole and kept the medication, claiming it was smuggling.
They did not hesitate to torture and ill-treat these prisoners. They classified them as ordinary criminals. And by designing a conspiracy, assigned one of their hired thugs to beat Mohammad Khodakarmi. But they failed in their goal of humiliating and breaking the fighting spirit of these prisoners.
Help us by sending any information in this regard so that we can be the voice of them and all prisoners.
Transfering to different cells Continuously
Even now, every so often, they move this prisoner from one cell to another, forcing him to sleep on the floor as a new prisoner and subjecting him to continuous torture.
The situation of Mehdi, the older brother, is the same. He also kept alongside ordinary criminals and given a bed shorter than his height, causing him to struggle for rest every night, and the guards refuse to change his bed to continue torturing him.
The prison conditions are also substandard. The prisoners deprived of hot water and forced to shower with cold water in the winter.
In addition, every morning, in the cold air, they keep the prisoners outside for a long time under the pretext of taking their attendance, leading to many of them catching cold.
