Omid Fathi suffered brutal beating by Vakilabad Prison guards

Omid Fathi suffered brutal beating by Vakilabad Prison guards on Oct 17, 2025. Eye damage, bruises worsen; family denied info.

On October 17, 2025, the political prisoner Omid Fathi endured a savage beating in Vakilabad Prison, Mashhad. Security agents swarmed him right after he hung up. About 10 guards unleashed fury, leaving him battered. His eye now faces grave injury. Swelling engulfs his face, blood flows freely. Moreover, old lumbar disc problems flare up with fresh, deep bruises. Families like his deserve answers, yet silence reigns.

Omid Fathi

This Omid Fathi beating isn’t isolated. It highlights Iran’s prison horrors. Activists worldwide rally for transparency. However, officials stonewall. Fathi’s kin beg for scraps of truth. Therefore, global watchdogs must amplify this cry.

Details of the Vakilabad Prison Assault

Reports paint a grim picture. Guards ambushed Omid Fathi post-call on that fateful Friday night. They struck relentlessly. Punches targeted his head, torso, and vulnerable back. Consequently, his left eye swells shut, vision blurs severely. Blood stains his clothes from deep cuts. Furthermore, those lumbar bruises scream agony, given his history.

Prison medics whisked him away, but details vanish. His family arrived frantic. Guards fed lies: “No fight happened.” Others muttered, “He’s in the clinic.” Some shrugged, “Back in his cell.” Indefinite bans on visits and calls compound the terror. Therefore, loved ones huddle in dread, hearts pounding.

This assault echoes broader abuses. Guards wield batons as tools of fear. Yet, Fathi stands unbroken. His spirit fuels resistance. However, without intervention, more victims fall silent.

Omid Fathi’s Legal Battles Unfold

Justice twists in Iran’s courts. Branch 1 of Mashhad Revolutionary Court slammed Omid Fathi with six months’ jail. Charges? “Propaganda against the regime” and “stirring unrest via election boycott posts.” A 50 million toman fine loomed too. Unable to pay, he chose bars over debt. He serves now in Vakilabad’s grim halls.

Two threads tangle his fate. First, that six-month stretch ticks down. Second, “insulting the Leader online” dangles unresolved. Criminal Court 2 in Mashhad delays endlessly. Postponements pile up. This limbo crushes his mind, heaps stress on scars.

Fathi fights back verbally, never violently. His posts challenge power, spark thought. However, the state labels dissent crime. Therefore, trials drag, rights erode.

Path to Arrest: A Pattern of Persecution

Security forces shattered Omid Fathi’s door on June 3, 2025. They hauled him to Vakilabad without mercy. Interrogators pounced that day. Branch 901 of Mashhad’s Prosecutor nailed him: propaganda and mind-disturbing posts. No respite followed.

Flash back to 2022 protests. Waves of unrest swept Iran. Fathi joined the chorus online, peacefully. Agents nabbed him then, freed him later. Yet, surveillance never slept. His digital defiance irks the regime. Tweets against policies? They track every keystroke. Repeated raids scar his life. However, he persists, voice unquenched.

This cycle breeds fear. Families watch doors nightly. Activists whisper in shadows. But Fathi’s story ignites hope. Global eyes turn, pressure builds.

Human Rights Alarms in Fathi’s Ordeal

Omid Fathi’s case screams violations. Guards’ fists mock international law. Article 6 of the ICCPR guards life; they endanger it. Article 7 bans torture—they deliver it raw. Beatings, threats: pure inhumanity.

Article 9 promises security; arbitrary grabs shatter it. Bans on contact? Cruel isolation. Article 14 demands fair trials; delays deny them. That Leader insult charge? A ghost haunting proceedings.

Iran’s playbook crushes foes. Prisons become torture chambers. Opponents vanish into voids. However, voices rise. NGOs document, nations condemn. Therefore, Fathi’s pain spotlights the rot.
