Iranian Human Rights society strongly condemns the execution of a lawyer and two other prisoners in Sari under the title of “retribution” and calls for a halt to death sentences in Iran.
Three prisoners including a lawyer in Sari taken to the gallows for second time and executed under title of “retribution” .
Iranian Human Rights society, quoted by Rokna; Wednesday morning , on October 19, 2022 , death sentence (retribution) of three prisoners, including a lawyer, carried out in Sari prison on charges of murder .
According to this report, the murder happened in early May 2016 . And one lawyer along with two other people arrested on charges of murder. And sentenced to death in Mazandaran judicial authorities .

As the main defendant in the case, this lawyer stated: “He moved the deceased to the gardens of Qalasar village in Neka city. And two of his relatives were there that night, they had a fight and it led to his murder. Then body dumped and buried in the same garden.”
The defendants tried in the criminal court and sentenced to death, verdict confirmed in Supreme Court and case sent to Mazandaran court .
According to this report, they went to gallows two years ago, but after receiving a deadline from Mazandaran judiciary, sentence was not executed. Until the dawn of Wednesday , October 19, “due to the failure to obtain the consent of the victim’s family”. The sentence of “retribution” for these three prisoners executed in Sari prison .
Including execution of these 3 prisoners in Sari prison,number of executions since beginning of Iranian year 1401 reached at least 383 people.
The Iranian Human Rights society, condemns the implementation of backward and medieval “retribution” laws. A law that does not match any of the global and international conventions in the 21st century .
Amnesty International’s condemnation(A lawyer and two other prisoners executed in Sari)
Amnesty International in a report which published on November 25, 2021 , wrote in relation to the inhuman verdict of “Qisas” :
” The death penalty, including through the application of the principle of retribution. Regardless of the nature of the crime and the personality and characteristics of the criminal. Is a violation of the right to life and is the most cruel, inhuman and humiliating type of punishment. And considered a gross violation of international laws . “
Amnesty International wrote: “According to laws of Islamic Republic of Iran, retribution is a philosophy based on mutual revenge. And dictates that those found guilty of murder be sentenced to the same fate that ended victim’s life, Namely death.” The law grants the family of the victim the right to either demand and execute the execution of the convict. Or to avoid killing the convict in exchange for a ransom .
This international organization added: “In this way, the law of revenge involves victim’s family in process of killing another person. Who sentenced to death by the order of the judicial system. By maintaining such conditions, judicial system puts the close relatives of victim in a harsh situation. Diminishes their human characteristics. and in the course of time, reduces the value that the society should attach to the right to life of human beings .
