The death sentence of a drug inmate was executed in Aligudarz prison
Iranian Human Rights Society. At dawn on Saturday, October 22, a drug prisoner named Yousef Faraji, 41 years old, from Rasht, was executed in Aligudarz Prison.
The Iranian Human Rights Organization wrote in the report of this execution. “Yousef Faraji was a truck driver before his arrest and was arrested and sentenced to death in Aligudarz about three years ago.”
The execution of this prisoner has not been announced in any official media or sources inside Iran.
It is worth mentioning that at least three other prisoners were executed in Zabul and Zahedan prisons on Saturday, 22 October.
Including the execution of this prisoner, the number of executions reached at least 388 since the beginning of the Iranian year 1401.
A high number of prisoners awaiting the execution of the death sentence
Despite the proposal to amend the execution law regarding drug charges. Currently the number of executions on drug charges is very high. Among them, we can mention Qezalhasar prisons and Karaj Central prison. It was stated in a report that reached the Iranian Human Rights Society and was published earlier. “There are a large number of prisoners under death sentence in the central prisons of Karaj and Qazalhisar. And it is suspected that the speed of execution of death sentences will be accelerated according to the received news. Karaj Central Prison has ten halls. In each hall at least 100 people are under death sentence. Which means at least 1000 people are under death sentence in this prison.
