Continued Uncertainty Surrounding Iman Khadri After 70 Days of Detention

May 15, 2025
in Detainees & Arrested
Iman Khadri was arrested on March 4, 2025, at his home in Masjed Soleyman by IRGC intelligence forces using an electric stun gun and violence.

No News on Iman Khadri’s Fate

Iman Khadri was arrested on March 4, 2025, at his home in Masjed Soleyman by IRGC intelligence forces using an electric stun gun and violence.

Iran Human Rights Center, Thursday, May 15, 2025 – Iman Khadri, a resident of Masjed Soleyman, has been held in inhumane conditions in Abadan Prison for over 70 days. This political prisoner, arrested by IRGC intelligence forces on March 4, 2025, has not yet faced specific charges and is denied the possibility of posting bail.

Khadri’s arrest on March 4, 2025, involved the use of an electric stun gun and violence by IRGC intelligence forces at his home in Masjed Soleyman. He was initially transferred to the IRGC intelligence detention center in Ahvaz, but on March 19, he was moved to Abadan Prison, where he remains without any formal charges.

Denial of Medical Treatment and Poor Physical Condition

Ongoing Detention and Uncertainty for Iman Khadri

According to reports from sources close to Khadri’s family, he was beaten during his arrest, resulting in damage to his teeth. Despite his poor physical condition, he has been denied medical treatment. This denial, especially given his urgent need for medical attention, is considered a form of torture and threatens his health.

Enforced Disappearance and Lack of Information

Fereshteh Tabanian, Iman Khadri’s lawyer, reported his disappearance in the early days following his arrest. For 14 days after his detention, no information was provided by security or judicial authorities regarding his whereabouts. This situation clearly violates human rights and constitutes enforced disappearance. According to Article 49 of Iran’s Criminal Procedure Code, judicial authorities are obligated to inform the detainee’s family of their place of detention, reasons for arrest, and charges, but this was not done in Khadri’s case.

No Case Filed and Lack of Information from Judicial Authorities

Khadri’s lawyer also stated that no case was filed against her client in the Ahvaz judiciary following his arrest. She visited Izeh to investigate, reviewing a previous case file at Branch 2 of the Prosecutor’s Office, but the authorities there were unaware of any arrest order. This indicates a lack of cooperation between judicial and security institutions in upholding Khadri’s legal rights.

Transfer to Abadan Prison to Intensify Pressure

Khadri’s transfer to Abadan Prison, far from his family’s residence in Ahvaz, is seen as a punitive measure. This transfer has not only severed his family connections but also imposed significant psychological and social pressure. Many analysts believe this transfer may be linked to Khadri’s prior support for prisoners in Ahvaz’s Sheiban Prison.
