One of the causes of the death of prisoners in Karaj Central Prison is psychoactive drugs and pills, and this is how they kill prisoners.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Friday, September 1, 2023, the prisoners given drugs and psychedelic pills in the central prison of Karaj, causing the death of the prisoners.
According to an informed source: “There are between 100 and 120 prisoners using methadone in each hall of this prison.” Methadone distributed free of charge by the prisons organization among prisoners, especially young prisoners. In this way, they become addicted and produce more users for methadone and drugs.”
This source adds: “Time and time again, it is seen that a prisoner took methadone with a psychoactive pill together. Which led to the death of the prisoner. In one of the halls of this prison, this matter caused the death of 4 prisoners.”
According to this source. Drug addicts are more than this number and methadone and drug addicts reach up to 400 people.
Even though it appears that drugs prevented from entering the prison, in reality, all kinds of drugs, especially glass, abundant in the salons. Drugs distributed and sold to inmates by prison-affiliated gangs.
