Eight prisoners were executed in the central prisons of Karaj, Arak, Qazvin and Khalkhal. Since the beginning of the Iranian month of Bahman, two people are executed in Iranian prisons every day
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, between 24 and 26 January 2023, at least eight prisoners were executed in the central prisons of Karaj, Arak, Qazvin and Khalkhal. This was while one of them was the father of three children and was executed after 8 years in prison.
On Thursday, January 26, 2023, three prisoners, two of whom were brothers, were executed in Karaj Central Prison (Karaj Penitentiary).
Reza and Omid Shokri were two brothers who were arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to death for the same charges.
There is no information about the name and details of the third prisoner.
On Tuesday, January 24, 2023, in Arak Central Prison, three prisoners executed
On Tuesday, January 24, 2023, in Arak Central Prison, three prisoners were executed on drug charges. Omid Azni and Behnam, whose last name not determined, along with another prisoner, were previously arrested on the same charge.
Also, according to the Iranian Human Rights Organization, on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, a prisoner who was the father of three children executed in Qazvin Central Prison (Chobin Dar).
Reza Aghale was 56 years old and arrested and imprisoned in Qazvin Central Prison 8 years ago on charges of murder.
In order to torture Reza Aghale, they took him to solitary confinement three times for execution and brought him back again.
On the other hand, on January 26, 2023, a conscript soldier was executed in Khalkhal prison.
Hamed Heydari was accused of murder. He arrested on October 10, 2019, along with another person on charges of murder. Hamed Heydari was sentenced to death for the same charge.
According to the Hengaw Website, in mid-December 2022, a prisoner named Ahmad Shariati executed in Kerman prison. And the news of his execution had not reached human rights sites until today.
Ahmad Shariati from Anbarabad, Kerman, arrested 4 years ago on the charge of drug possession. And has been in prison for the same charge since that date and was executed for the same charge.
In this way, during the last ten days, at least 14 prisoners, an average of two per day, were executed in Iranian prisons. For three days, at least eight prisoners were executed in Iranian prisons.
