Iran executes 12 prisoners in the past 3 weeks across Jiroft, Zahedan, and other prisons. This surge highlights a human rights crisis with 132 executions this month alone.

Iran Human Rights Society, Monday, September 15, 2025- Executions in Iran escalate alarmingly in the past 3 weeks. Authorities hanged at least 12 prisoners in prisons like Jiroft, Zahedan, Sabzevar, Khorramabad, Shiraz, Hamedan, and Gorgan. This brings the monthly total to 132. Therefore, more than five people die daily—one every five hours.

Recent Executions in Iran Prisons

Authorities executed these 12 individuals recently. Families mourn, and activists protest. Furthermore, transparency lacks in many cases.

Executions in Jiroft Prison

On the morning of September 15, 2025, two prisoners died in Jiroft Prison. One, Amir Hossein Hemmati, faced confirmed murder charges. Officials investigate the second prisoner’s identity. Both received death sentences for murder. This event shocks local communities.

Executions of Two Prisoners in Sabzevar Prison

At dawn on September 15, 2025, Mojtaba Boozhabadi and Farshad Khosravi lost their lives in Sabzevar Prison. Drug-related offenses led to their convictions. Therefore, Iran targets such crimes harshly. Families demand fair trials.

Executions of Three Prisoners in Khorramabad Prison

Three men faced execution in Khorramabad Prison over two days. First, on September 15, 2025, Mirza Vali Sotoudeh died for murder charges. Then, on September 14, 2025, Parviz Dolati and Farhad Sepehvand followed. However, details vary. Mehrdad Sepehvand, from Khorramabad, endured 13 years in custody for drugs. He received a death sentence. Parviz Dolati, 35 years old, spent four years arrested on similar drug charges. Authorities sentenced him to death. These cases reveal long detentions.

Execution of Elyas Shiroozehi in Zahedan Prison

On September 14, 2025, Elyas Shiroozehi, 27, son of Abdolrahman, died in Zahedan Prison. He lived in Zahedan. Five years ago, police arrested him for murder. Courts sentenced him to death. Therefore, his family grieves deeply. Activists highlight ethnic targeting.

Executions of Two Prisoners in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz

On September 14, 2025, two men died in Shiraz’s Adelabad Prison. Reza Shahsavari, 30, from Borujerd, faced arrest four years prior for murder. He received a death sentence. Heydar Ali Babaeiria, 45, from Mashhad, endured five years in custody for the same charge. Authorities executed him too. However, reports add more. On the same day, Amirhossein Pouramini and Ghavam Najafi also died there. Iran Human Rights Organization confirmed this. Thus, four hangings occurred.

Execution of Ruhollah Rastehmi in Hamedan Prison

On September 13, 2025, Ruhollah Rastehmi from Famenin district died in Hamedan Prison. Drug-related offenses sealed his fate. He fought the charges until the end. Families urge international intervention.

Execution of Rasoul Khanmohammadi in Gorgan Prison

At dawn on September 10, 2025, Rasoul Khanmohammadi, 40, from Bandar Abbas, died in Gorgan Prison. Four years ago, authorities arrested him for drugs. They sentenced him to death. Therefore, his case underscores drug war brutality.

Executions in Iran Conflict with Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Executions in Iran clash with global standards. Article 3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights declares: “Everyone has the right to life.” This right stands absolute, except for competent court verdicts on serious crimes. However, the death penalty contradicts it directly. First, it violates the fundamental right to life. No one can reclaim that right once lost. Second, irreversibility haunts the process. Judicial errors prove fatal and uncorrectable. Third, execution methods often involve torture or inhuman treatment. These practices breach human dignity principles. Therefore, activists call for abolition.

Violations of Human Rights Obligations on Death Penalty in Iran

Iran signed the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Article 6 limits death penalties to serious crimes with fair trial guarantees. Yet, many cases lack transparency. Defendants face restricted legal rights. Courts often show no independence. For instance, rushed verdicts ignore due process.
