Under the rule of fundamentalist leaders, Iran ranks second in terms of the number of execution and first in terms of the proportion of executions to population.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, at least five prisoners executed within two days leading up to October 19th. Two prisoners executed in the central prison of Khorramabad, also known as Parsilun. Vahid Kakavand and Fathollah Rashno had previously been arrested on drug charges.
The death sentences for these two individuals carried out early in the morning on Thursday, October 19th. Another prisoner, Vahid Rashidi Garavand, executed on the same day in Aligoodarz, Lorestan province, also on drug charges.
It is reported that another prisoner executed with Vahid Rashidi Garavand, but there is no information available about their identity or crime. On the same day, a Baloch prisoner executed in Zahedan central prison. This prisoner, Khodabakhsh (last name unknown), 27 years old. He arrested in Saravan on August 3rd, 2022, and sentenced to death in court.
At least 4 prisoners executed
According to reports received, a minimum of four prisoners executed in Karaj Central Prison (Nedamatgah) on wednesday, 26th of Mehr, 1402 (October 18th, 2023). One of the identified prisoners is Khosrow Naghian, and they charged with drug-related offenses.
The identities of the other three executed prisoners are currently unknown.
In the early morning of Wednesday, 18th of October, 2023, the death sentences of ten prisoners in Ghezelhesar Prison in Karaj carried out. The identities of two of the executed individuals are Farshad Shahbazi and Mohammad Behzadi.
Execution is the tools of dictatorship
Currently, only 34 countries use inhumane punishment of execution. Iran, under the rule of fundamentalist leaders, ranks second in terms of the number of executions and first in terms of the number of executions per capita.
