Two prisoners executed in Zanjan and Birjand prisons
Iranian Human Rights Society, September 11, 2022. Two prisoners executed in Zanjan and Birjand prisons, Mehdi Agosh on charges of murder and Mansour Brahui on charges of drug possession, in the last two days.
Execution of a prisoner in Zanjan
At dawn on Sunday, September 11, a prisoner named Mehdi Aghosh executed in Zanjan prison on charges of murder.
In the report of Iran Human Rights Organization, quoting an informed source, it is stated: “Mehdi Agosh was a hairdresser before arresting . Four years ago, he committed murder in a Mass conflict and was imprisoned. He went to the gallows two more times to carry out the sentence, but the family of the victim had given him a deadline.”
Execution of a prisoner in Birjand
At dawn on Saturday, September 10, 2022, a 26-year-old prisoner named Mansour Brahui executed in Birjand prison on drug charges.
Mehdi Brahui, 26 years old, son of khoda Rahm, married and has two young children, was born and lived in Zahedan. According to an informed source, “Mansour was arrested in 2019 on drug charges in Birjand city and sentenced to death by Birjand’s revolutionary court.”
It should be noted,five Baloch prisoners, including one woman, executed in Zahedan prison on the same day.
Including execution of these two prisoners, the number of executions reached at least 350 since the beginning of the Iranian year 1401. Also, the number of executions in 2022 reached an unprecedented number of 446 people in less than a year.
Iran’s human rights community demands an immediate halt to the execution of death sentences. We ask the United Nations and the Human Rights Council to take immediate action to stop executions in Iran.
