Four drug-related prisoners were executed in one day.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Monday, August 14, 2023, at least four prisoner were executed in one day in Kerman, Birjand, and Bam prisons. All four prisoners were drug suspects and were killed for this charge.
On Sunday, August 13, 2023, a Baloch prisoner named Abdul Ghani Arbabi was executed in Kohnouj prison in Kerman.
Abdul Ghani Arbabi, 48 years old, was arrested in 2021 in connection with drugs and was sentenced to death six months later.
On the same day, another Baloch prisoner named Mohammad Gorgij was executed in Birjand prison. Mohammad Gorgij from Zahedan was arrested in 2021 in connection with drugs and was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.
In addition, two prisoners were executed in Bam prison. One of these prisoners was named Hamed Jamshidi, and the identity of the other prisoner is unknown.
Charges drug-related have been announced against these two prisoners.
It should be noted that at least 50 prisoners have been executed in Iran’s prisons in less than a month.
