Three prisoners were executed in Hamadan and Gorgan prisons
Iranian Human Rights Society Wednesday, December 14, 2022, the death sentence of three prisoners was executed in Hamadan and Gorgan prisons. Two prisoners named Mehdi Khoshbakht and Hamed Nobakht were executed in Hamedan prison on drug charges and Payam Nourollahi on murder charges in Gorgan prison.
Execution of two prisoners in Hamadan prison
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, at dawn today, Wednesday, December 14, 2022, two prisoners named Mehdi Khoshbakht and Hamed Nobakht were executed in Hamadan prison.
An informed source told the Iranian Human Rights Society: “These two prisoners have been in prison for years and both were arrested and sentenced to death for just a few grams of drugs (50 and 150 grams).”
Hamed Nobakht and Mehdi Khoshbakht were transferred to solitary confinement two days ago to execute the sentence.
Execution of a prisoner in Gorgan prison
According to Iran Human Rights Organization, at dawn on Monday, December 12, a prisoner named Payam Nourollahi was executed on charges of murder in Gorgan prison.
Payam Nourollahi was 33 years old and from Fuman.
In this report, an informed source is quoted. Payam Nurullahi was a construction worker and was arrested three years ago on the charge of murdering the son of a Basiji member and was sentenced to retribution in court. Their conflict was over personal issues.
Including the execution of these three prisoners, at least 484 people have been executed since the beginning of the Iranian year 1401 and at least 580 people have been executed since the beginning of 2022. This is while many death sentences are carried out secretly and are not published or announced anywhere. Therefore, the actual number of executions is higher than this number.
We remind you that the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran accused the Iranian government officials of launching a new campaign to execute prisoners.
