Mohammad Mehdi Karami and Mohammad Hosseini, two of the protesters of the nationwide protests, executed in Karaj Central Prison
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, according to the Meezan news agency, (Judicial Agency) this morning, Saturday, January 7, 2023, Mohammad Mehdi Karami and Mohammad Hosseini, two protesters of the 2022 nationwide demonstration, were executed in Karaj Central Prison.
Mohammad Mehdi Karami and Mohammad Hosseini were sentenced to death for the murder of Ruhollah Ajamian. Both prisoners were tortured and forced to confess.
22-year-old Mohammad Mehdi Karami, a resident of Karaj, who has several medals and championship titles in karate, was executed while he was on a hunger strike since January 4 in protest against the death sentence.
An informed source regarding the torture and forced confession of Mehdi Karami said: “Mehdi was arrested on November 5 and his trial was held on November 30.” On November 5th, after his arrest, they beat him so that they thought he was dead. On November 30th, there were two people sitting on his left and right side in the courtroom, and he had to speak according to the paper they had already given him.
Mehdi Karami and Mohammad Hosseini along with 13 other protesters. On November 3, 2022, around Behesht Sakineh Cemetery in Kamalshahr, Karaj, they were arrested during the ceremony of those who died on the way to freedom. And they were tried in the Alborz court headed by judge “Musa Asif al-Husseini” with charges of corruption on earth and other charges.
In the initial reports, the judiciary announced 15 defendants in this case, but in the third session, suddenly another defendant (Amir Hossein Mohammadi) was added to this case, and he was sentenced to death.
