Mohammad Reza Jamshidi Ghadikolaei is on a hunger strike in Qaemshahr prison
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Thursday, October 5th, 2023. Mohammad Reza Jamshidi Ghadikolaei has been on a hunger strike in protest of the heavy bail that a judge has set for his release.
The 23-year-old from Babol began his hunger strike on Tuesday, October 3nd, 2023 in Qaemshahr prison. A close source to him told the Iranian Human Rights Society, “He and also his family cannot afford to pay the bail. Nevertheless, the judge has increased the amount of bail.”
According to the report, he has also been beaten by prison guards during his hunger strike. Mohammad Reza Jamshidi Ghadikolaei, born in 2000 and a resident of Babol, was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Revolutionary Court of Babol on August 16th, 2023, on charges of “propaganda against the regime,” “illegal assembly,” and also “forming a group with the aim of disrupting the country’s internal security.”
