Three prisoners were executed in Shiraz, Gohardasht and Central Karaj prisons. The number of those executed in one day reached to 7 people.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, Friday, December 30, 2022, quoted by the Iranian Human Rights Organization. On Wednesday, December 28, 2022, three prisoners were executed in Shiraz, Gohardasht and Central Karaj prisons. Dawood Rahmat Ali, a citizen of Afghanistan, was executed in Shiraz Prison, Mohsen Nejati in Gohardasht Prison, and a prisoner with an unknown identity in Karaj Central Prison.
Dawood Rahmat Ali, from Kunduz, Afghanistan, was arrested and sentenced to death on the charge of murder and possession of illegal weapons. He was imprisoned in Adel Abad prison in Shiraz for three years.
Mohsen Nejati, accused of murder, along with his cousin Hamidreza Nejati, were arrested on charges of murder and both were sentenced to death. Hamidreza and Mohsen Nejati were called for execution from Ward 1 Hall number 1 of Gohardasht Prison.
Also, on December 28, 2022, another prisoner was transferred to Karaj Central Prison (Karaj Penitentiary) and his sentence was executed. Previously, in the report we had published, we had reported the execution of two prisoners in Karaj Central Prison. These prisoners were also transferred to solitary confinement after attacking and shooting the prisoners.
Increasing execution’s number
Including the execution of these seven prisoners, at least 527 Iranians have been executed since the beginning of this year, 1401, and 623 people have been executed since the beginning of 2022, which is a shocking and unprecedented figure. This is while many death sentences are carried out secretly and are not published or announced anywhere. Therefore, the actual number of executions is higher than this number.
