Fifth week of hunger strike in protest against “Black Tuesdays”, political prisoners continue hunger strike against execution
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society (IHRS), on Monday, February 26, 2024, the prisoners’ hunger strike continues in the fifth week to protest Black Tuesdays. The news from some political detanees’ families, on Tuesday February 27, a group of political prisoners in Evin 4th Ward will go on hunger strike on the fifth week of “Black Tuesday” along with other prisoners.
According to a reliable source, prisoners who have joined the strike since the second week declared: “It is possible to stop the execution machine with unity and collective action. Therefore, we are in the company of other detainees including the GhezelHesar strikers, Karaj Penitentiary, Khorramabad, Mashhad, Saqqez, etc. On Tuesday, February 27th, we will continue to go on hunger strike.”
It should be noted that the hunger strike on Tuesdays of no executions with the call of a group of prisoners of GhezelHesar started a month ago and this Tuesday will continue as the fifth week.
50 political detainees are at risk of execution
Nearly 50 political detainees are at risk of execution, including Khosro Besharat, Kamran Sheikha, Anvar Khezri, Mujahed Kururi, Reza Rasaii, Mansour Dahmardeh, Fazel Bahramian, Mehran Bahramian, Mohammad Javad Vafaie Sani, and Abbas Driss. A few days ago, four Baluch prisoners Eidu Shahbakhsh, Abdol Ghani Shahbakhsh, Abdolrahim Ghanbarzehi Gargij and Solyman Shahbakhsh were also sentenced to death in GhezelHesar prison.

In addition, the Velayat-e Faqih judiciary is issuing death sentences against political prisoners. We can mention the issuing of death sentence against Shahab Nadali in Evin Prison, Mamusta Mohammad Khezarnezhad in Bukan Prison.
In addition, in GhezelHesar Prison and other prisons, thousands of prisoners are awaiting death sentencing. Approximately 340 people are on death row in only two Lakan prisons in Rasht and Zanjan.
