Contradiction of the Death Penalty with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as an important international document, guarantees the fundamental rights of all individuals regardless of race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinions, national or social origin, property, birth, or any other status.
Article 3 of this Declaration explicitly states: “Everyone has the right to life. This right shall not arbitrarily deprived except pursuant to a final judgment rendered by a competent court in accordance with the law.”
The death penalty, as the highest form of punishment, directly contradicts this article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights because:
**Right to Life: ** The right to life considered a fundamental and inalienable right. The death penalty deprives individuals of this right.
**Irreversibility: ** Once the death penalty carried out, any judicial errors cannot be rectified.
**Torture and Inhumane Treatment: ** Some methods of executing the death penalty are considered torture and inhumane treatment. Which themselves contradict the provisions of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
