Many times, Abbas Deris has denied the accusations in the court and declared the forced confessions as a result of torture by the agents of the Ministry of Intelligence.

According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, there is still a risk of executing Abbas Daris without proving his guilt.

Previously, on December 13, 2024, Abbas Deris, who sentenced to death, sentenced to 14 years in prison by the third branch of the criminal court of a province of Khuzestan. But the Supreme Court has annulled this ruling.

The lawyer had previously stated that the family of the victim had given their consent, but due to the politicization of the case, the execution of the sentence announced by the judiciary.

He also stated that evidence to prove the innocence of Abbas Deris submitted to the court, but they do not accept this evidence based on coerced confessions under torture. The court authorities told the lawyer that this evidence is worthless.

The death sentence is based on forced confessions obtained from Abbas Deris and his brother. The interrogation process from start to finish was under the supervision of the Ministry of Intelligence and the Revolutionary Guards’ Intelligence. Abbas Deris has repeatedly denied the charges in court and stated that the forced confessions were the result of torture by the agents of the Ministry of Intelligence. He had previously said, “I don’t care about being executed because I am sure that I am innocent.”. Nevertheless, there is still the risk of his execution.

Help us by sending any information in this regard so that we can be the voice of him and all prisoners.

Who is Abbas Deris?

“Abbas Deris, born in 1973, is from the city of Bandar Mahshahr in Iran and was one of the detainees of the nationwide protests in 2019. He is also a witness to the massacre in everglade (Nizar), Ahvaz.

Abbas Deris has three children aged 6, 14, and 16. His wife passed away after his arrest, and his children are living without a mother.”
Abbas and Mohsen Deris arrested on December 8, 2019, after a bloody attack by security agents on people in in everglade Nizar, Mahshahr.
The reason for the arrest of Abbas and Mohsen is that they involved in the use of weapons and being an accessory to the murder of Reza Sayadi. Reza Sayadi was one of the agents of Mahshahr Special Unit who was killed that day.
