According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Sunday, December 31, 2023, six drug-related prisoners executed in Birjand Central Prison. Also, a prisoner executed in Shiraz Central Prison (Adel Abad Shiraz) on drug-related charges.
Execution in Birjand Central Prison
At dawn on Sunday, December 31, 2023, six prisoners, only one of whom has been identified, were executed in Birjand Central Prison. One of these executed prisoners was Shir Ahmad Sanjrani, 34 years old, married, father of 7 children. He Baloch, a resident of Zahedan, arrested and sentenced to death in 2019 in connection with drugs in Birjand. He transferred to prison quarantine on Saturday to execute the death sentence.
Last week, on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at least 8 prisoners, including three female prisoners, executed in Birjand Central Prison.
Execution in Shiraz Central Prison
On the morning of Sunday, December 31, 2023, a Baloch prisoner named Nur Ahmad Ghalandarzahi executed in Shiraz Central Prison.
Noorahmad Ghalandarzahi, 22 years old, from Zahedan, married, the father of two children. This fellow Baloch was arrested in 2020 in Shiraz in connection with drugs and sentenced to death. This prisoner transferred to solitary confinement on Saturday to execute the death sentence.
Why is there execution in Iran?
