Iran Human Rights Society, Thursday, September 25, 2025– Somayeh Rashidi’s death exposes brutal prison neglect in Iran. This 42-year-old political prisoner suffered fatal epilepsy seizures. Guards dismissed her pain as malingering. She passed away today, September 25, 2025, after 10 days in a coma at Mofatteh Hospital in Varamin, Iran. Rashidi endured years of epilepsy, marked by sudden seizures and blackouts. From day one in detention, she begged for help with headaches and fits. However, prison doctors ignored her. They shoved psychiatric pills at her instead. This delay turned treatable illness deadly. Furthermore, her story screams for global attention on Iran’s jail horrors. Families face barriers too. Rashidi’s kin rushed to the hospital but hit access walls. Therefore, activists demand probes now.

Rashidi arrived at the hospital in dire straits. Doctors clocked her consciousness at level 5—barely hanging on. Her state stayed volatile. Tragically, hope faded fast. This neglect fuels outrage worldwide.

Prison Dismisses Epilepsy as Malingering: Somayeh Rashidi’s Ordeal

Somayeh Rashidi battled epilepsy for years. Seizures struck without warning. Loss of awareness followed each time. Yet, from her arrest, jail medics brushed off her cries. They labeled it all fake—pure malingering. Instead of proper epilepsy drugs, she got mind-altering meds. A close source reveals the horror: “Somayeh collapsed and seized right before cellmates’ eyes. Multiple times. The doc sneered she faked it. Only when crisis hit did they rush her out—way too late.” On that first hospital day, experts pegged her awareness at 5. Recovery odds? Slim to none. This callous stance worsened everything. Moreover, it echoes wider patterns in Iranian lockups. Guards prioritize control over care. Consequently, inmates like Rashidi pay with lives.

Intense Seizures and Hours of Delay: Rashidi’s Final Days

September 15, 2025, marked a turning point for Somayeh Rashidi. Her seizures ramped up hard. She hit the floor again and again. Cellmates scrambled to help. They held her steady amid the chaos. But her body failed fast. Prison bosses dawdled for hours before the transfer. Finally, they shipped her to Mofatteh Hospital. Too late, though. Her family got the call and bolted there. Guards blocked them hard—no treatment peeks, no visits allowed. Restrictions piled on pain. Therefore, grief deepened. This delay sealed her fate. Activists slam it as deliberate cruelty.

From Slogans to Exile: Somayeh Rashidi’s Arrest Unfolds

Somayeh Rashidi: The critical situation of a political prisoner

Somayeh Rashidi, born 1983 in Tehran, sparked her doom with bold acts. On April 24, 2025, cops nabbed her for scrawling slogans in Javadieh hood. Interrogators grilled her at Aghahi 15 Khordad station. Then, they dumped her in Evin’s women’s wing. Chaos hit soon after. An Israeli missile slammed Evin. Mass moves followed. Officials exiled Rashidi to grim Qarchak Prison in Varamin. Her charge? “Propaganda against the regime.” Authorities slap this on tiny protests lately. It silences voices quick. Rashidi joined hordes in Qarchak’s hell. Overcrowding, filth, med shortages—it’s a nightmare pit. However, her epilepsy made it lethal.

Human Rights Breaches in Rashidi’s Denied Care

Somayeh Rashidi’s saga screams human rights foul. Jails starved her of vital treatment. This breaks global rules outright. First, Article 5 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights bans torture or cruel acts. Denying epilepsy aid? That’s “white torture” pure. Second, Article 25 guarantees health and care standards for all. Rashidi got zilch. Third, Nelson Mandela Rules demand jail med matches outside levels. Qarchak flouts this bad. Finally, International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights Article 10 insists on dignity for prisoners. Rashidi’s end mocks it.
