Authorities have imposed a 60 billion toman bail, an impossible sum for his working-class family, ensuring his continued imprisonment. This article explores Khosravi’s plight, the harsh conditions in Dezful Prison, and the urgent need for international action to secure his release and address Iran’s ongoing abuses.

Khosravi’s ordeal began on August 23, 2023, when security forces arrested him en route to Isfahan. Over two years later, no court has heard his case. A source close to his family revealed, “Ruhollah Khosravi faces threats of fabricated charges, with no judicial process.” The judiciary’s deliberate delays keep him in limbo, a tactic to break political prisoners’ spirits. This lack of due process violates fair trial principles and reflects Iran’s repressive policies.

Arrest Amid Deadly Crackdown in Izeh

Khosravi’s arrest coincided with the killing of two young protesters, Kamar Tahmasebi and Mehdi Almasi, by security forces in Khuzestan. On November 16, 2022, 9-year-old Kian Pirfalak and others died in similar state-sponsored violence in Izeh. The regime tried to blame these killings on local youth, sparking public outrage. Khosravi’s detention appears linked to this crackdown, aimed at silencing dissent and intimidating victims’ families.

Harsh Conditions and Forced Transfers

Authorities have subjected Khosravi to relentless transfers between detention centers. In November 2024, they moved him to Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz. By February 2025, he faced solitary confinement. Exorbitant Bail Deepens Family Hardship

The judiciary set a 60 billion toman bail for Khosravi’s temporary release, an unattainable amount for his working-class family. As the sole breadwinner, Khosravi supported his children and elderly mother. His detention has plunged them into financial and emotional hardship.
