Gathering of mothers and families of prisoners sentenced to death in front of Karaj Central Prison. Transferring at least 9 prisoners sentenced to death to carry out the sentence
At least 9 prisoners sentenced to death from Central Karaj, Central Urmia and Central Arak prisons. They transferred to solitary confinement to execute the death sentence. A group of mothers and families of these prisoners gathered in front of Karaj Central Prison . They demanded cancellation of their loved ones’ sentences.
According to Iranian Human Rights Society, on evening of Monday, February 13, 2023. Mothers and families of prisoners sentenced to death gathered for the umpteenth time. They wanted to save their children from execution. Also, on February 12 and 13, 2023, at least 9 prisoners sentenced to death in Central Karaj, Central Urmia and Central Arak prisons transferred to solitary confinement to execute the death sentence.
On Sunday, February 12, 2023, two prisoners accused of narcotics were transferred to solitary cells in Karaj Central Prison (Karaj Penitentiary) to execute the death sentence.
Gathering of mothers and families of prisoners
The mothers and families of these prisoners gathered in front of Karaj Central Prison to protest the transfer of their loved ones and to save them and demanded the cancellation of their loved ones’ sentences. These mothers chanted slogans in front of the prison.
Also, according to the Kurdistan Human Rights Organization, on February 12, 2023, two prisoners named Milad Jajvi Khanik and Mohammad Ali Akhtari Kohlan were transferred to solitary confinement. These two prisoners were previously accused of “moharebeh” and sentenced to death due to armed robbery.
These two prisoners are imprisoned in Urmia prison and have been in prison since 2018. The death sentence of Milad Jajvi Khanik and Mohammad Ali Akhtri Kohlan was issued in March 2019 and confirmed by the Supreme Court.
On the other hand, on Monday, February 13, 2023, five prisoners sentenced to death in Arak Central Prison were transferred to solitary confinement to execute the sentence.
It should be noted that at least 28 prisoners have been executed in Iran’s prisons in the past three weeks.
