According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, during the days when Khamenei gives the “prisoners amnesty” maneuver, the news indicates the execution of eleven prisoners in three days and the transfer of at least 17 prisoners to execute the death sentence. This statistic shows a rapid increase in the execution of death sentences for prisoners or their transfer to carry out death sentences.
On the 12th to 14th of February 2023, at least eleven prisoners executed in Gorgan, Qazvin, Urmia, Arak, and Central Karaj prisons. These prisoners charged with murder, armed robbery, and drug-related charges.
Regarding transferring of prisoners for execution of death sentence, on the 13th and 14th of February 2023. Twelve prisoners of Gohardasht Prison and five prisoners transferred from the Central Prison of Ilam for the execution of the death sentence.
In addition, on February 14, 2023, three prisoners also executed in Karaj Central Prison.
All three prisoners were drug suspects, one of whom was named Mehdi Dostari.
Names of six executed prisoners
Therefore, during three days from February 12 to 14, 2023. Siros Gholami accused of murder in Gorgan Central Prison, Ahmed Samari and Behzad Alirezaei accused of murder in Qazvin Prison. Yalad Jajuei Khanik and Mohammad Ali Akhtari Kohlan accused of Moharebeh through armed robbery in Urmia central prison, three prisoners with unknown identity, with drug-related charges in Arak central prison. And three prisoners of drug charges executed in Karaj Central Prison, the name of one of them was Mehdi Dostari.
Iranian human rights Society condemns mass execution of prisoners in Iranian prisons. Which is carried out simultaneously with deceptive maneuver of “amnesty of prisoners”. And considers all death sentences in Iran to be unjust and a tool of repression. This deceptive maneuver is in a situation where several people arrested in nationwide protests are facing execution and several of them executed in recent months.
