The dire conditions of the oldest political prisoners, Saeed Masouri, Afshin Baimani and Motaleb Ahmadian, after transferred from Gohardasht to Evin
The oldest political prisoners, including political prisoners Saeed Masouri, Afshin Baimani, Motaleb Ahmadian, and Hamze Sawari, transferred to Evin Prison without even their clothes and are undergoing difficult conditions.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Saturday, August 5, 2023, 9 political prisoners, including the oldest political prisoners, transferred from Gohardasht prison to Evin prison with only one piece of clothing, and they are in difficult conditions due to the population density of this prison.
On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, political prisoners Saeed Masouri, Afshin Baimani, Motaleb Ahmadian, Hamze Sawari, Lughman Aminpour, Mohammad Shafi, Saman Yassin, Hossein Gachlo and Masoud Kazminejad, 9 political prisoners transferred to ward under strict security measures. Some are sleeping on the floor due to overcrowding.
According to a reliable source, during the years of prison, these prisoners had procured equipment at their own expense, which seized during the transfer, and they not allowed to transfer the equipment.
Conditions of this ward of Evin prison is very complicated
In addition, the conditions of this ward of Evin prison isvery complicated. Ward 8 of Evin prison consists of 4 halls 7, 8, 9, and 10, each hall has 9 small rooms. But the number of prisoners is more than 120, which is added daily.
Due to the density of the population, the facilities of this ward, such as the number of toilets, bathrooms, lamps, telephones, air conditioning and cooling of these halls, cannot provide enough for all the prisoners.
The health conditions of the salons reported to be dire and full of bed bugs and lice.
All these problems caused by the fact that the oldest political prisoners, Saeed Masouri, spent 23 years of their lives, Afshin Baimani, 23 years, Hamza Sawari, 18 years, and Motaleb Ahmadian, 13 years, spent the best years of their lives in prison. And now they should benefit from the minimum facilities.
Remembring that in April 2023, Gholamhossein Mohseni Azhei, the head of the Judiciary, ordered the closure of the prison and the transfer of Gohardasht prisoners to other prisons. On August 1 and 2, 2023, the prisons organization transferred the prisoners of Gohardasht to Qezel Hesar prison.
