Execution is a type of punishment and, in other words, the harshest punishment for convicts. Currently, most countries in the world have abolished the death penalty, and also even in countries where this type of punishment still exists in their laws, they refrain from issuing or carrying out such sentences except in rare cases.
The death penalty is legal in Iran and issued in judicial sentences for some political crimes, murder, rape, child sexual abuse, sodomy, drug trafficking, armed robbery, kidnapping, and waging war. The execution of the death penalty in Iran used under the dictatorship of the Supreme Leader to increase suppression.
The widespread and increasing execution of prisoners from March 2022 until now is proof that Khamenei is killing his own citizens to prevent the fall of his regime at the hands of the people.Amnesty International also condemned the increase in the number of executions in Iran and called for global action to stop such sentences.
