The uncertainty of Karvan Shahi and six other political prisoners after 14 months of imprisonment
The prosecutor objected to the acquittal of Karvan Shahi and six other political prisoners from the detainees. These prisoners arrested on nationwide protests of 2022 and referred their case to the Urmia Province Court of Appeals.

After the objection of the Urmia prosecutor to the acquittal of Karvan Shahi and other detainees of the nationwide protests. Their charges “waging war and spreading corruption on earth,” their case referred to the Urmia Provincial Court for review.
As a result, these seven political prisoners continue to remain in limbo after 14 months of detention.
According to a reliable source, on Monday, December 18, 2023. A court session held for the case of Karvan Shahi (Hayman Shahi). And several other detainees of the 2022 nationwide uprising, including Farzad and Farhad Tahazadeh. Faryad Hamzeh Shoor, Reza Eslamdoost, and Shahram Marouf Mola. This session was held without the presence of the defendants, and only the lawyer was allowed to attend.
Based on this report, after the end of the court session, the case of the seven political prisoners from the detention of the 2022 nationwide protests referred to the Urmia Provincial Court for review due to the Urmia prosecutor’s objection to the acquittal on charges of “waging war and spreading corruption on earth.”
In early November 2023, the Revolutionary Court of Urmia ruled in favor of the acquittal of the political prisoners Karvan Shahi, Farzad and Farhad Tahazadeh, Faryad Hamzehshoor, Reza Eslamdoost, and Shahram Ma’rufmoula on charges of “waging war against God and spreading corruption on earth.” However, the Urmia prosecutor objected to this ruling, leading to the reopening of the case.

These political prisoners, who were among the detainees of the nationwide uprising in 2022, transferred from detention in Oshnavieh to Urmia Prison. They tried on charges of “waging war against God and spreading corruption on earth” and faced the possibility of being sentenced to death. Despite more than 416 months in detention, they continue to languish in uncertainty.
Hayman Shahi is 23 years old, married, and has a 3-month-old child. He recently lost his father and took over the responsibility of supporting his family. During summers, he worked as a laborer, and in the fall. آe worked as an apprentice in a bakery to cover the family expenses.
Hayman Shahi, a political prisoner from Oshnavieh, arrested during the nationwide uprising in Oshnavieh in October 2022. The charges against him in the Urmia Revolutionary Court include “gathering and collusion, acting against domestic security, waging war against God (Moharebeh), spreading corruption on earth, disrupting public order, participating in deliberate arson and destruction of government property at Sepah Bank, and rebellion against the authorities during the performance of their duties.”
After the recent trial, the family of the political prisoner, Hayman Shahi, are deeply concerned about their son’s plight. They have been waiting for their son’s release for 14 months, and due to his difficult conditions in prison, they do not have a favorable mental state.
About the nationwide uprising of 2022
From September 15, 2022, the uprising began and continued for months. In this anti-government uprising, a large number of people arrested in various cities of Iran and transferred to detention centers and prisons. Also, more than seven hundred people killed by security forces during this uprising.
The uprising began on September 16, 2022, after the tragic death of Mahsa Amini, by the suppressive forces of the Guidance Patrol under the pretext of improper veiling in Tehran, and continued with the widespread and months-long presence of the people.
Uprising started with the protest against the suppression of women by the Guidance Patrol in Iran, but quickly targeted the entire regime and called for the overthrow of Khamenei in every city and street.
The uprising involved all strata, professions, and ethnicities of the Iranian people. Demonstrating that they are seeking to overthrow this regime and establish a free Iran ruled by the people.
The uprising blazed every day and night for over 6 months in the alleys, streets, and rooftops. Undoubtedly being the longest and most extensive uprising against the dictatorship of the Supreme Leader in the past 45 years.
