According to the court verdict, Vahid Chavaran sentenced to 12 years in prison and 12 years of exile to Zahedan. Also, Nasser Rezaei sentenced to 12 years of exile in Kerman, Mohammad Hossein Haseli sentenced to 12 years of exile in Mashhad.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Monday, January 8, the judicial branch issued long prison terms for 3 political prisoners in Abdanan. These 3 people are Vahid Chavaran, Nasser Rezaei, Mohammad Hossein Haseli. These 3 young protestors of Abdanan are currently in the central prison of Ilam.
In April 2023, security agents raided Vahid Chavaran’s house in order to arrest him. They wanted to arrest him, but due to his alertness, this action failed. He arrested on Friday, July 23, 2023 while leaving the country and after some time transferred to the detention center of Ilam Intelligence Department.

Mental and physical torture in order to obtain forced confessions
As soon as Vahid Chavaran arrested, he was subjected to mental and physical torture to obtain a forced confession. After some time, the intelligence officers transferred him to the central prison of Ilam.
In July and September 2023, he went on a hunger strike to protest the torture in the Ilam Intelligence Detention Center and the continuation of his detention. Vahid Chavaran has been denied the right to have a lawyer since his arrest and interrogation. In order to put pressure on him, the prison officials have forbidden him to meet his family.
Vahid Chavaran, Mohammad Hossein Haseli and Naser Rezaei had already sewed their lips in protest against the indecision.
Vahid Chavaran is a mountaineer and civil activist from Sarab Bagh, Abdanan county. He has also been arrested several times by the security forces during nationwide protests.
