Detention of journalists in Iran – names and details of at least 20 journalists arrested during the nationwide uprising in Iran

Iranian Human Rights Society, September 28, 2022.Summoning and arrest of journalists in Iran began on September 17, Saturday, in protest against the murder of Mehsa Amini.And has continued until now.

Based on the news received by Iranian Human Rights Society and news collected from other news media and personal accounts of lawyers and families. At least 20 journalists and media activists have been summoned or arrested so far.

Among arrested journalists, we can mention Nilufar Hamidi, reporter of Sharq newspaper. She is the one who appeared in Kasri Hospital in Tehran for the first time.And published the picture Mahsa Amini in coma. The news that became a spark for starting nationwide protests in Iran.

Also, Yalda Moaiery is the same photographer who showed the image of a girl in middle of smoke and fire during the protests of 2016. An image that has become one of the symbols of the protests of December 2016. And later president of the United States, Donald Trump, tweeted about her in Persian.

1- Nilufar Hamedi, reporter of Sharq newspaper, place of arrest: Tehran, date of arrest: September 22

2- Yalda Moaiery, journalist.lace of arrest: Hijab Street, Tehran, date of arrest: September 20, 2022 . she was then transferred to Qarchak Varamin prison.

3- Marzieh Talai, journalist and media activist at Mokarian News Agency. Place of arrest: Saqqez, date of arrest: September 20, 2022. (She arrested with Ali Khatib while walking in streets of Saqqez after seizing their mobile phone)

4- Ali Khatibzadeh, journalist. And media activist at Mokrian News Agency. place of arrest: Saqqez, date of arrest: September 20 – arrested along with Marzieh Talai.

5-Khosro Kordpour, responsible manager of Mokrian news website, place of arrest: Saqqez, date of arrest: September 20

6- Masoud Kordpour, responsible director of the Mokarian news website. place of arrest: Saqez, date of arrest: September 21, 2022

7- Betoul Blaai, journalist, place of arrest: Sirjan, date of arrest: September 21. (Arrested along with Samira Alinejad. These two journalists summoned by the police for some explanations in one of the protest gatherings in Sirjan. After referring to One of the centers of the police force in Sirjan, they arrested and transferred to the prison of this city.

8- Samira Alinejad, place of arrest: Sirjan, date of arrest: September 21 (together with Betoul Balai)

9- Fatemeh Rajabi, journalist and women’s rights activist. Place of arrest: Tehran, date of arrest: September 23

10- Elaha Mohammadi, the reporter of Ham Mihan newspaper. Her lawyer announced in a tweet that this journalist, who prepared a report on Mahsa Amini, arrested.

11- Mojtaba Rahimi, journalist, place of arrest: at his home in Qazvin. date of arrest: September 22, he had informed about the presence of protesters in the streets.

12- Alireza Khoshbat, journalist, place of arrest: Tehran, date of arrest: September 22

13- Rohollah Nakhai, media activist and journalist, place of arrest: Tehran, date of arrest: September 22

14- Vida Rabbani, journalist, place of arrest: Piranshahr, date of arrest: September 23.

15- Elnaz Mohammadi, a journalist, was arrested along with Elahe Mohammadi.

16-Hamid Shafiei, date of arrest: September 23

17- Ahmad Halabisaz, photographer and journalist.Place of arrest: Tehran, date of arrest: September 22, he then transferred to Evin.

18- Mehrnoosh Tafian – journalist and civil activist, place of arrest: Ahvaz, date of arrest: September 27

19- Farshid Gurbanpour, literary journalist and manager of Soren Book virtual bookstore. place of arrest: Tehran, date of arrest: September 25

20- Alireza Jabari Darestani, journalist and activist, place of arrest: Tehran, date of arrest: September 23.
