Secrets of Iran’s Death Ward “240”

Ward 240 or Asayeshgah, Unveiling a Buried Truth; A Human Responsibility in the Face of a Clip That Breaks the Silence

Iran Human Rights Society, June 3, 2025 – In today’s world, where oppressive regimes use media and propaganda tools to bury the truth, exposing and remembering are the only ways to prevent the repetition of atrocities. The clip before you is not merely a visual narrative but a unique document of one of the darkest mechanisms of repression in contemporary Iranian history: a story from Ward 240 of Evin Prison, known as the “Asayeshgah Ward.”

Ward 240 or Asayeshgah, the Factory of Fear, Madness, and Execution

This work, with its bitter, documentary, and unfiltered tone, recounts a horrific truth: systematic torture, psychological isolation, the destruction of human will, and the silent transfer of prisoners to execution squads. It is more than a documentary; it is the voice of cells where the echoes of screams still resonate.
Unlike many documentaries that merely recount memories, this clip, based on documented testimonies and historical data, offers a rare and unprecedented portrayal of the machinery of repression and the physical elimination of opponents. Ward 240 of Evin, with its 400 solitary confinement cells, remains active. If there has been any change, it is only in the color of the walls or the tone of the interrogators, not in its core purpose: breaking the human spirit.

A Call to Collective Responsibility

A Call to Collective Responsibility

This clip is not a repetition of past narratives but an invitation to collective responsibility today. History has repeatedly shown that no crime is forgotten, and no criminal, no matter how hidden behind power and propaganda, will remain immune to justice and accountability. This responsibility rests on all our shoulders: if you are watching this clip, you bear a human responsibility.
Remaining silent means perpetuating the cycle of repression. Our silence equates to ignoring the voices of those who were tortured in the absolute darkness of cells, in utter solitude, and killed without a name or trace. This work will only bear fruit if it is seen, believed, and shared.
As stated in the clip, the walls of Ward 240 are silent witnesses to crimes no camera has recorded. But today, with the power of media and exposure, we can break that deadly silence. Sharing this clip is a step toward restoring the historical memory of a society that has been deprived of it for decades.

When watching this film, do not merely be a viewer.
Be a witness, be a voice, and do not remain indifferent to these crimes.
Every share of this clip is not just a simple repost but an act of resistance against forgetting.
History always awaits those who, in the darkness, light a candle.

The documentary clip about Ward 240, as part of an expository video series, will be released by the Iran Human Rights Society in the coming days.
