Catastrophic situation of overcrowding of prisoners in Khorin Varamin prison and the lack of basic facilities have made the situation in this prison disastrous and critical, the density is so high that there is not even oxygen to breathe.
Iranian Human Rights Society, Friday, September 7; According to reliable sources, the density of prisoners in Khorin Varamin prison is very high. So much so that the prisoners don’t even have enough oxygen to breathe and feel suffocated. AND this has made a Catastrophic situation.
The water situation in this prison is very serious. In such a way that the prisoners have water for two days and not for three days, and they must use the reserved water.
Another problem of the prisoners is the toilets. This prison has 10 toilets with a capacity of more than 500 people. 5 of which broken and unusable.
Prisoners have not had hot water for six months and have been using cold water, that’s why the prevalence of colds is very high in this prison.
Prison’s food and sleep Catastrophic situation
A large number of prisoners do not have beds, and in the hall, they sleep side by side, so that even the area in front of toilet is full. Prisoners who sleep on floor must sleep in form of books in order to have opportunity to rest, and lower beds also used by two people.
The condition of the food is very awful, and it is not edible at all. Some prisoners who have financial resources buy ingredients from the store and cook themselves. But the rest must eat the same poor-quality food and they are all kept in a state of starvation.
Iranian human rights society has warned about this situation. And he wants the United Nations Human Rights Council to send a delegation as soon as possible to visit the condition of Iran’s prisons. and put pressure on the Iranian authorities to release the detainees and political prisoners.
