Female prisoners in Evin Prison’s women’s ward have previously participated in hunger strikes and other forms of protest against the regime’s repressive policies.
Iran Human Rights Society, June 10, 2025 – On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, female political prisoners in the women’s ward of Evin Prison held a sit-in and chanted protest slogans, once again declaring their opposition to the death penalty. This sit-in was part of the 72nd week of the nationwide “Tuesdays Against Execution” campaign, with the voices of the protesters resonating beyond the prison walls.
These female prisoners, who have previously engaged in hunger strikes and other forms of protest against the regime’s repressive policies, joined forces with the families of political prisoners to demand the immediate abolition of death sentences.
Solidarity Across Cities in the “No to Execution” Campaign
Simultaneously with the sit-in at Evin Prison, the “Tuesdays Against Execution” campaign continued in the streets and public spaces of various cities across Iran, including Tehran, Shiraz, Fasa, Shahroud, Sowmehsara, Kazeroun, Karaj, Kermanshah, and Gorgan. People gathered in public, chanting slogans and calling for the immediate abolition of the death penalty.
This movement, which has been held without interruption for the past 72 weeks, has become one of the most sustained and widespread civil movements protesting the repressive policies of the religious regime.
Continued Repression and Civil Resistance
Despite suppression and security crackdowns, the female political prisoners in Evin Prison remain steadfast in their stance. These sit-ins and protests have not only persisted within the prison but have also gained significant attention on social media and in international media.
The “Tuesdays Against Execution” campaign has gradually become a platform for solidarity among families of political prisoners, human rights activists, and the broader protesting public against the death penalty.
“No to Execution”: A Persistent Call for Justice
Reports indicate that these protests and sit-ins will continue until the death penalty is abolished. The female political prisoners and activists of this campaign have reaffirmed their commitment to the slogan “We Stand Until the End,” emphasizing that repression and threats will not deter them from their struggle.
