Suspicious death of Javad Rouhi, one of the detainees of the protests in Nowshahr prison
Javad Rouhi, one of the detainees of the nationwide protests, who sentenced to death, died of unknown causes.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Thursday, August 31, 2023. Javad Rouhi, one of the detainees of the 2022 nationwide protests, transferred from Nowshahr prison to the hospital with an unknown physical condition and died in the hospital.
Mizan, a website affiliated with the Judiciary, published the news of his death and announced that he was taken to Beheshti Nowshahr Hospital at 3:45 in the morning due to a convulsion and died an hour later. This news agency did not specify the cause of his death.
Some unconfirmed reports indicate that he killed by drug poisoning.
Javad Rouhi, 35 years old, from Amol, arrested in September 2022, in Sari, one of the detainees of the nationwide protests. He accused of Moharebeh, « Corruption on Earth and Rebellion » and sentenced to death three times.
According to reports, he had lost his speech due to torture. These tortures used to force him to confess.

Earlier, Amnesty International issued a statement on the release of Javad Rouhi, Arshia Takdestan and Mehdi Mohammadi and their death sentence.
After the nationwide uprisings of last year 2022, the government of Velayet al-Faqih in Iran has killed many political prisoners with various excuses and methods, which has continued until today.
