Judge Amouzad, after the rebellion in Qarchak Varamin prison, filing cases for female prisoners by stationing in the prison.
According to the Human Rights Society of Iran, on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, after the rebellion in Qarchak Varamin prison, Judge Amouzad stationed in this prison for two days and is filing cases for female prisoners and issuing orders.
On Saturday, September 16, 2023, on the anniversary of the nationwide uprising of 2022 and the murder of Mahsa Amini, female prisoners rebelled in Qarchak Varamin prison. They set fire to some objects and protested. A large number of security forces dispatched to Qarchak Varamin prison to suppress the female prisoners.
Prison guards shot rubber bullets at the female prisoners and at least 20 prisoners injured. While female prisoners surrounded by fire, they severely beaten. So much that people outside the prison could hear the women’s cries of pain.
According to an informed source, after the fire extinguished, the prison atmosphere is secure. They put pressure on female prisoners and even deprived them of food, boiled water, and necessary medication.
Filling false cases for many female prisoners
They have filed cases for many prisoners. These lawsuits conducted under the supervision of Mohammad Reza Amouzad, the judge of Branch 29 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court. He issues orders for prisoners during the two days he has been stationed in Qarchak prison after the riot.
According to a source, “So far, 360 women who arrested during the protests on September 16th have been taken to Qarchak and Varamin prison.” Qarchak and Varamin women’s prison, also known as Shahr-e Rey women’s prison, built in the early 70s and housed some convicts of various crimes. After the anti-monarchy revolution in 1978, the inmates of this prison also hidden and the prison closed for a while, but since 2002, after a major reconstruction, it turned into a place for holding high-risk drug addicts.
Qarchak prison is located in the deserts around eastern Tehran, at the beginning of the Shahr-e Rey road towards Qarchak. The prison opened in 2010 and managed by the head of the prisons organization of the judiciary and officially became a women’s prison in June 2011.
Qarchak prison renovated in 2011 and changed its name to ” Shahr-e Rey Women’s Prison”. It currently accommodates between 1,500 to 2,000 female prisoners from all over Tehran province. While its actual capacity is only 500 people.

Mohammad Reza Amouzad Khalili is a young judge from Golestan. He selected and introduced as one of the top five judges in the field of alternative sentencing instead of imprisonment in the judiciary of the Supreme Leader in 2018. After the removal of Moghiseh (one of the judges at the time of the mass murder), he became his replacement.
He is known as one of the issuers of heavy sentences for the detainees of the 2019 protests. He also caused the suicide of at least one detainee by setting heavy bails.
Examples of this judge’s inhumane sentences, which mostly used for psychological torture of suspects, are as follows:
Sentence for a young driver without a license: 300 hours of service in the city’s main mosque for prayers.
Sentence for reckless driving. Buying 50 copies of the book “Sun in Hijab” and distributing them to the wives of guards killed in Syria.
