Faramarz Javidzad, a prisoner with dual citizenship, died due to lack of medical treatment
Faramarz Javidzad, a dual citizen prisoner, died in Evin prison after not receiving medical attention.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Monday, September 26, 2023. Faramarz Javidzad, a dual-citizen prisoner imprisoned in Evin prison, transferred to Evin hospital on the evening of Friday, September 22, 2023, due to the severity of his illness and stomach bleeding. But he was returned to prison without medical treatment.
Due to the judge not agreeing to send him to the hospital, he died because he was suffering from cardiovascular disease, diabetes and had stomach bleeding.
Faramarz Javidzad, 63 years old, was a Jew with Iranian-American citizenship and a resident of Los Angeles, USA. In 2021, when he came to Iran, he arrested on financial charges by the “Executive Headquarters of the Order of His Holiness the Imam”. Then, after three months of interrogation in ward 209 of Evin prison, he transferred to the general ward.
Prisoners in Iran’s prisons endure disastrous conditions and some of them die due to lack of medical attention. But due to the censorship and repression of the ruler, news of their death not published in the media. Only limited cases of these deaths of prisoners reported in the media. On Thursday, August 31, 2023, Javad Rouhi, one of the detainees of the nationwide uprising of 2022, died suspiciously, and after about a month, the cause of this young man’s death is still unknown.
The government of Iran uses dual citizenship prisoners to get ransom from other countries.
