Mr. Mashallah Karami continued his protest against the execution of his son until his arrest on August 22nd
Security forces arrested him on August 22nd and transferred him to an unknown location.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, nearly 90 days passed since Mr. Mashallah Karami was arrested.
He still held without charge at the central detention center in Karaj. Mashallah Karami is the father of Mohammad Mehdi Karami. Mehdi executed on January 7, 2023, on charges of participating in protests and the so-called Ajamian case. He and also Mohammad Hosseini never accepted these charges in court. And also stated that all confessions were made under torture and coercion.
Mr. Mashallah Karami continued his protest against the execution of his son until his arrest on August 22. Security forces arrested him and transferred him to an unknown location. After his arrest, security forces confiscated all his and his family’s electronic devices and blocked all their bank cards. They also put pressure on family members not to have any contact with anyone. Since then, this family has faced restrictions on their daily commute and phone calls.

In the latest raid by the authorities on Mr. Mashallah Karami’s residence, after destroying the house and the furniture that contained Mohammad Mehdi’s belongings, they destroyed all the belongings, medals, and memorabilia plaques, and burned Mohammad Mehdi’s clothes. Due to the pressures put on this family, Mr. Karami’s wife and child forced to leave their home and relocate to an unknown location.

Mr. Mashallah Karami finally transferred from the detention center of the Intelligence Department to the central prison in Karaj on October 28, 2023. After nearly 3 months since the arrest of Mohammad Mehdi Karami’s father, there is no information available about the charges against him.
