Death penalty in Iran
Execution is a type of punishment and punishment, in other words, the most severe punishment for the convict. Currently, most countries in the world have abolished the death penalty, and countries that still have this type of punishment in their laws, except in rare cases, refrain from issuing or enforcing such sentences. The death sentence is legal in Iran, and in Iran’s judicial rulings, this punishment is issued for some political crimes, murder, rape, sexual abuse of children, adultery, drug trafficking, armed robbery, kidnapping, and war.
The government leaders use execution as the most important tool for suppressing and intimidating society. They try to prevent the resurgence of uprisings by increasing the number of executions. The government leaders strongly suppress any gathering related to condemning executions and even prevent the gathering of the families of those condemned to execution.
