“The lack of news about Bijhan has now entered its 116th day. Through persistent follow-up on his case, my belief that Bijhan is a victim of a fabricated case and forced confession project has not only been reinforced but has become a certainty.”
Iran Human Rights Organization, Thursday, May 15, 2025 – Three and a half months of no news about Bijhan Kazemi have heightened concerns about another security scenario aimed at extracting forced confessions.

Arrest Without Notification
Bijhan Kazemi was arrested on January 20, 2025, in Kuhdasht without prior notification by security forces and was transferred to solitary confinement in Khorramabad Prison. According to authorities, he is currently held in Ward 209 of Evin Prison under the control of the Ministry of Intelligence.
He has previously experienced detention and spent time in prison in recent years. Throughout this period, the Kazemi family has had no contact, visitation, or access to precise information about his condition. According to his mother, authorities have conditioned Bijhan’s access to basic rights on his “cooperation,” a term commonly interpreted in security practices as implying forced confessions under pressure and torture.
Although Bijhan has experienced detention and imprisonment before, this time, the prolonged silence and lack of information suggest a more complex security scenario. Human rights activists are calling for an end to coerced confession practices, clarification of this prisoner’s status, and immediate access to a lawyer and contact with his family.
Previous Arrests of Bijhan Kazemi
Bijhan Kazemi has previously experienced detention and spent time in prison in recent years. Now, 74 days after his latest arrest, there is still no news of him, and his family awaits clarification of his status. Shahnaz Khosravi, Bijhan Kazemi’s mother, previously stated that the authorities handling the case have conditioned his access to civil rights on “cooperation,” which can only mean forced confessions.
Bijhan Kazemi was arrested on January 20, 2025, in Kuhdasht without any summons or notification and was transferred to solitary confinement in Khorramabad Prison. According to authorities, he has been transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison.
During this period, he has been deprived of the right to contact or meet with his family, leaving them in uncertainty and concern about his condition.
