Political prisoner Loghman Aminpour endures endless hardship in Iran’s brutal jails. Born on April 2, 1991, in Saqqez, this Kurdish activist holds a bachelor’s degree. He once worked freely as a hairdresser. However, authorities targeted him for his beliefs. They accuse him of acting against national security.

He also faces charges of gathering against the regime. Plus, they claim he sympathizes with the People’s Mojahedin (MEK). Loghman remains single and fights on. His story exposes Iran’s repression. Furthermore, it highlights global calls for his release. As of December 2025, he serves time in Qezel-Hesar Prison.

Early Life and First Arrest

Loghman Aminpour grew up in Saqqez, a Kurdish city. He pursued education up to a bachelor’s level. Before prison, he cut hair for a living. Yet, his activism drew regime attention.

In March 2017, security forces arrested him. They charged him with “propaganda against the regime.” They also alleged “connections with the People’s Mojahedin.” The court sentenced him to 6 years total. Therefore, he entered Evin Prison’s harsh wards.

Authorities released him in April 2017. But freedom lasted briefly. On June 12, 2017, they grabbed him again. He has stayed behind bars since. Moreover, overcrowding worsened his plight.

Health Struggles Amid COVID-19

Prison conditions crushed Loghman’s health. In early November 2019, COVID-19 struck Evin. Overcrowding spread it fast. Extreme cold and no heat fueled infections.

Loghman suffered shortness of breath. Lung problems lingered for months. He begged for care, but guards denied it. However, the virus outbreak forced his release on April 16, 2020. He breathed free air briefly.

Just 45 days later, on June 12, 2020, agents re-arrested him. They dragged him back to Evin. Furthermore, interrogators isolated him in Ward 209. There, Ministry of Intelligence agents applied pressure.

Interrogation and Psychological Torment

Solitary confinement broke many spirits. Loghman endured four months there. Interrogators threatened his family. They demanded confessions to false charges. Yet, he resisted.

After torment, they moved him to Ward 4 of Evin. Then, the 33rd Moqaddas Courthouse called. Judge Amuzad presided in Branch 28. On January 13, 2022, after seven months detained, Loghman faced trial.

The verdict hit hard. He got 5 years for “assembly and collusion.” Another 5 years followed for “membership in the MEK.” In total, 10 years loomed. However, 5 years hung suspended.

Evin Fire: Beatings and New Charges

Chaos erupted on October 13, 2022. A riot and fire ravaged Evin Prison. Guards beat Loghman severely amid the blaze. Four days later, on October 17, they hurled him into Ward 241 solitary.

There, Judiciary Intelligence tormented him for three months. No family visits occurred. No calls broke the silence. Interrogators prepared a new case. They accused him of “corruption on earth.” They added “war, destruction, and disrupting prison order.”

Torture intensified. Psychological blows mixed with physical pain. Still, Loghman held firm. Therefore, his defiance fueled more rage from captors.

Latest Sentencing and Legal Battles

Uncertainty dragged for two years. Finally, on June 12, 2024, Branch 1148 of Tehran’s 2nd Besat Criminal Court convened. The appeals hearing turned sour fast.

Judge dismissed lawyer Ramin Safarnia mid-session. He barred any defense. Loghman spoke alone. The result: 8 years in prison. Plus, 75 lashes. Of that, 6 years stood enforceable. The Court of Appeal confirmed it.

Earlier, a 10-year sentence included 5 suspended years. Now, totals climb. Reports from November 2024 note added 8 years, 8 months for the fire. Thus, he faces over 20 years potential. Yet, he endures.
