Kourosh Kivani and the Pattern of Security Charges

The execution of the death sentence of Kourosh Keivani was carried out in circumstances where signs of a hasty trial and proceedings outside the legal track have been reported.

Iran Human Rights Society, Wednesday, March 18, 2026 – The execution of Kourosh Keivani was announced on the morning of March 18, 2026. This action took place in an atmosphere where widespread arrests and threats to suppress citizens have increased.

The Mizan News Agency, affiliated with the Judiciary, announced that the death sentence of Kourosh Keivani was carried out on the charge of espionage for Israel. In this report, it is stated that he provided sensitive location information to Mossad.

However, no specific information about the identity, arrest process, access to a lawyer, or details of Kourosh Keivani’s case has been published so far. This lack of information has created serious ambiguities regarding the trial process.

According to the available data, the execution of the death sentence of Kourosh Keivani has been carried out in circumstances where signs of a hasty trial and proceedings outside the legal track are visible. The failure to publish documents and the lack of transparency in the adjudication process have placed this case among highly ambiguous cases.

Increase in Arrests and Threats of Suppression

In recent days and simultaneous with the continuation of military tensions, security, police, and judicial institutions have reported widespread arrests of citizens. These arrests are often accompanied by general charges such as “cooperation with the enemy.”

At the same time, ruling authorities have openly threatened citizens. They have announced that in the event of protest presence on the streets, they will face severe confrontation and even massacre.

These threats, alongside the execution of the death sentence of Kourosh Keivani, indicate signs of intensification of suppression policies in the public space.

Kourosh Keivani and the Pattern of Security Charges

The charge of “espionage” is one of the titles that the ruling structure has repeatedly used in past years. These charges are usually raised in circumstances where there is no public access to information and case documents.

In the case of Kourosh Keivani as well, examinable details have not been placed at the disposal of public opinion. This situation has caused the adjudication process of this case to face serious doubts.

According to existing reports, restriction on access to an independent lawyer, absence of public trial, and lack of transparency are among the factors that turn such cases into tools of suppression.

The execution of Kourosh Keivani, in this context, is assessed as the beginning of hasty executions in the current security atmosphere. This trend can be pursued with the aim of creating fear and social control.

Violations of Rights in the Case of Kourosh Keivani

In the case of Kourosh Keivani, signs of violation of fundamental principles of fair trial are observed. The lack of transparency and limited access to information have increased concerns.

  • Violation of the right to a fair trial, Article 10 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: Failure to publish details of the trial process and lack of transparency
  • Violation of the right to access a lawyer, Article 14 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights: No information has been published regarding access to an independent lawyer
  • Violation of the right to life, Article 3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: Execution of the death sentence in conditions of ambiguity and without public supervision
  • Violation of the right to freedom of expression and assembly, Articles 19 and 20 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: Threatening citizens with suppression in case of protest
