Death penalty in Iran
Execution is a type of punishment and the harshest penalty for a convicted person. Currently, most countries in the world have abolished the death penalty, and even in countries where this type of punishment still exists in their laws, they refrain from issuing or implementing such sentences except in rare cases.
The death penalty in Iran is legal and is imposed in Iranian judicial rulings for some political crimes, murder, rape, sexual abuse of children, sodomy, drug trafficking, armed robbery, kidnapping, and Moharebeh.
