Armita Abbasi, one of the detainees of nationwide protests in Karaj, along with a group of other prisoners and detainees, started a hunger strike in Fardis Prison in Karaj.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society. Armita Abbasi, one of the detainees of the national protests in Karaj, started a hunger strike to protest the uncertainty of her situation. She has been on hunger strike since January 2, 2023, in Ferdis Karaj prison (Kechui). Along with her, 14 other people who arrested during the nationwide protests started hunger strike.
According to the contents of her mother’s posts, Armita has started her hunger strike due to the non-determination of her case.
The case of Armita Abbasi is supposed to be heard by Revolutionary Court of Karaj branch one on January 26, 2023. No answer given to the optional lawyer of Armita Abbasi’s family. And the court did not accept her as a lawyer in this case.
In addition to Armita Abbasi, 14 other detainees of nationwide protests imprisoned in Fardis Karaj prison. Also have started hunger strike in support of her.
Armita Abbasi, 21 years old, born in 2002, arrested in October 2022. There are news and evidence indicating torture and sexual violence against her after her arrest and during transferring to the hospital.
She is currently imprisoned in Fardis Karaj (Kechoui) prison.

Marzieh Mirghasemi, Shahrazad Derakhshan, Fatemeh Jamalpour, Hamideh Zareie, Niloufer Kordoni, zhasmin Haj Mirzamohammadi and Maedeh Sohrabi. Together with Armita Abbasi, these prisoners have joined the hunger strike in protest of the lack of medical attention and the lack of consideration of their cases.
Ferdis Karaj prison (Kachoui) is one of the hundreds of dangerous prisons in the government of Velayat Faqih.
