Azam Gholami sentenced to 16 years in prison
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Monday, September 4, 2023. Azam Gholami Zahab sentenced to 16 years in jail. And 4 months in prison by Judge Hossein Yazdankhah, Branch 5 of Mashhad Revolutionary Court.
She is accused of “assembly and collusion with the intention of disrupting country’s security”, “propaganda activity against the regime” and” connection with the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran”. If this sentence is approved, 10 years of imprisonment, the severest punishment for charge of “Moharebeh, Corruption on Earth through membership in the the People’s Mojahedin Organization ” will be implemented.
According to court reports, her case held on August 31, 2023. Judge Hasan Yazdankhah did not allow the lawyer approved by Mrs. Gholami to appear in the court.
Mrs. Azam Gholami Zahab, 35 years old, from Mashhad. Arrested in front of her house in Ghasem Abad, Mashhad in September 2022. And taken to the quarantine of Vakil Abad Prison, Mashhad.
Without access to a lawyer. She charged in Branch 904 of Mashhad General and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office by investigator Mohsen Golmohammadi.
The accusation of cooperation with the People’s Mojahedin Organization mentioned and her release on bail prevented until the end of the proceedings. She was in limbo for 10 months. Azam Gholami currently imprisoned in the women’s ward of Vakil Abad prison in Mashhad.
