The death of prisoners continues on a daily basis due to the lack of medical facilities in government prisons. Prisoners are deprived of their most basic human rights, namely access to medical care. This deprivation endangers the lives of many prisoners and leads to their silent death in the deathly silence of prisons.
Lack of medical facilities and specialist doctor
Lack of medical facilities and specialist doctor is the main cause of death of prisoners
The lack of medical facilities in Iranian prisons is rooted in several factors. The inattention and negligence of the prison authorities in providing the basic health and medical needs of the prisoners is one of the most important factors.
The inappropriate and unsanitary atmosphere of the prisons, the lack of medicine and medical equipment, and the absence of a specialist doctor continuously in the prisons are only part of these problems.
In addition, there are several barriers for prisoners to access medical care outside of prison. Complex and burdensome administrative processes, lack of funding. And lack of cooperation from prison officials are obstacles that stand in the way of treating sick prisoners.
Deaths of prisoners with curable diseases
The results of these inattentions and inactions are terrible. There have been several reports of deaths of prisoners with treatable diseases. Many prisoners die due to simple infectious diseases or suffer permanent disabilities due to lack of timely treatment of important diseases.
The silent death of prisoners in Iran is not only considered a gross violation of human rights, but also shows the deep injustice and cruelty of the government leaders towards the lives of human beings who are victims of governmental plunder.
