Death Sentences Confirmed for Ehsan Hosseini Pour, Matin Mohammadi and Erfan Amiri; Three Teenage Protesters Facing Execution
Iran Human Rights Society, Friday 24 April 2026- The death sentences of Ehsan Hosseini Pour, Matin Mohammadi and Erfan Amiri, three of the detainees from the December 2025 protests, have been confirmed by the Supreme Court and sent to the execution unit. This is while they were under 18 years old at the time of arrest and reports indicate the existence of extensive flaws in the trial process and obtaining confessions under pressure.

Three Defendants on the Verge of Execution of the Death Sentence
According to published information, the death sentences of Ehsan Hosseini Pour, Matin Mohammadi and Erfan Amiri have been confirmed and their cases have entered the execution stage. These three individuals, who are among the detainees of the nationwide December 2025 protests, are now facing the immediate danger of execution of the sentence. The charges raised against them include “participation in murder”, “intentional arson” and “acting against national security”; charges that have been raised in connection with a case related to the arson of a mosque in Pakdasht.
Low Age of the Defendants; Serious Legal Concerns
One of the most important aspects of this case is the low age of the defendants at the time of arrest. Reports show that Ehsan Hosseini Pour, Matin Mohammadi and Erfan Amiri were between 17 and 18 years old at the time of arrest. Issuing death sentences for individuals at this age is in conflict with the principles of children’s rights and has created widespread concerns about compliance with international obligations.
Deprivation of Chosen Lawyer; Restriction of the Right to Defense
In the process of handling the case of Ehsan Hosseini Pour, one of the most important flaws has been his deprivation of access to a chosen lawyer. According to reports, his lawyer was prevented from continuing activity in the case by order of the judge. This action has severely restricted the right to effective defense and, in a case with a heavy punishment, has added to concerns about non-observance of the principles of fair trial.
Confessions Under Pressure; Main Basis of the Sentence
A significant part of the documents in the case against Ehsan Hosseini Pour, Matin Mohammadi and Erfan Amiri is based on confessions that are said to have been obtained under pressure and in abnormal conditions. According to reports, Ehsan Hosseini Pour has stated that these confessions were taken under threat and severe pressure. In one account, it is mentioned that the agents forced him to accept the charges with direct threats. Despite these claims, no information has been published about the precise examination of this issue in the official court process.
Temporal Contradictions and Ambiguity in Presence at the Scene of the Incident
In this case, contradictions in the timing of events have also been raised. According to the lawyer’s statements, Ehsan Hosseini Pour had been arrested before the time of the incident; a matter that raises questions about the possibility of his presence at the scene of the incident. Also, according to the lawyer, CCTV images do not confirm his presence at the scene. However, these matters have not been taken into consideration in the judicial proceedings.
Hasty Courts; A Concerning Trend
The case of Ehsan Hosseini Pour, Matin Mohammadi and Erfan Amiri has been examined in conditions where the handling of cases related to protests is carried out with high speed. Legal observers believe that this haste in handling can lead to reduced accuracy in examining cases and issuance of unfair sentences.
Similar Pattern in Other Cases
This case is placed alongside similar cases in which reports of confessions under pressure and restrictions on access to a lawyer have also been published. The existence of these similarities has increased concerns about the repetition of a specific pattern in handling cases related to protests.
Concerns About Execution of the Sentence and Request for Review
Given the sending of the case to the execution unit, the danger of execution of the death sentence for Ehsan Hosseini Pour, Matin Mohammadi and Erfan Amiri is very serious. The existing ambiguities in the trial process have highlighted the necessity of review in this case and have drawn the attention of human rights institutions.

This case indicates serious violation of the principles of fair trial and human rights.
