Four political prisoners accused of the Evin prison fire case sentenced to a total of 33 years in prison and flogging in a predetermined decision.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Thursday, June 20, 2024, the political prisoners accused in the Evin prison fire case, Loghman Aminpour, Maysam Dehbanzadeh and Majid Roshannejad sentenced to 8 years in prison and flogging. Also, Reza Salmanzadeh sentenced to 7 years in prison and flogging.
These predetermined sentences issued by the order of the Ministry of Intelligence and communicated to the lawyers of the prisoners.
On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, the verdicts of the defendants in the Evin fire case issued by Judge Jabar Javadi Rami of Branch 1148 of the Criminal Court of the Two Judicial Complexes of the Tehran Mission and communicated to the lawyers of the prisoners.
It is clear that these rulings prepared in advance and announced by the Ministry of Intelligence and issued by the judge.
According to the verdict issued for the political prisoner Lughman Aminpour on the charge of “destruction of public property” to 6 years in prison and 74 lashes, on the charge of “disrupting prison order” to 16 months in prison and 74 lashes and on the charge of “disobeying the orders of the officers”. He sentenced to 16 months, a total of 8 years and 8 months.

This political prisoner is currently serving his sentence in GHezelHesar prison. He already sentenced to 5 years in prison on the charge of “association and collusion” and another 5 years on the charge of “membership of the People’s Mojahedin”.
Political prisoner Maysam Dehbanzadeh was sentenced to 6 years in prison and 74 lashes for “destruction of public property”, 16 months for “disrupting prison order” and 74 lashes for 16 months, and 16 months for “disobeying the order of the agents”.
He sentenced to a total of 8 years and 8 months in prison. Political prisoner Reza Salmanzadeh sentenced to 5 years in prison and 74 lashes on the charge of “destruction of public property”, on the charge of “disturbing prison order” to one year in prison and on the charge of “rebellion.

According to the order of the officers, he sentenced to one year, a total of 7 years in prison.
Majid Roshannejad, a political prisoner, on the charge of “destruction of public property” to 6 years in prison and 74 lashes, on the charge of “disrupting prison order” to 16 months in prison and 74 lashes, and on the charge of “disobeying the orders of the agents” to 16 months, sentenced to a total of 8 years and 8 months in prison.

It should be noted that on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, the forty-person trial of the accused in the Evin prison fire held with the presence of the families of the prisoners who died during the fire and the accused in the case. The lawyers of the prisoners were not allowed to attend the court session. The prosecutor’s representative wanted to make the prisoners guilty during the fire. But the families of the dead prisoners strongly protested this and disrupted the court session.
As the fire continued, the political prisoners of ward 8 also tried to enter there to help ward 7.
About the Evin prison riot and fire during the nationwide uprising of 2022.
It should note that during the nationwide uprising of 2022, on the evening of October 15, political prisoners attacked by guards and special forces with war bullets and shotguns, and a number of prisoners killed. The rest of the prisoners severely beaten to death by the forces of the special unit and the prison guard until morning with injured bodies.
The fire in Evin prison started at 21:00 on October 15, 2022, in Ward 7 of this prison. Simultaneously with the Evin prison fire, the prison guard also started shooting and the prison alarm sounded. The fire spread quickly, and the lives of the prisoners were in serious danger. Following this fire, the terrible sounds of the explosion shook the area so that it said that the glass of the nearby buildings broken.
As the fire continued, the political prisoners of ward 8 also tried to enter there to help ward 7. Many people from Tehran, upon hearing the news of the fire and riot in the prison, moved to Evin prison to support the prisoners. So that led to heavy traffic.
On October 16, 2022, a number of political prisoners transferred to Gohardasht prison with their injured and bleeding bodies, one day after the terrible fire in this prison.
