Since the beginning of Ordibehesht (April 21, 2025), the regime’s authorities have executed at least 151 prisoners. This translates to an average of more than 4 executions per day, or one every 6 hours.
According to the Iran Human Rights Organization, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at least 18 prisoners were executed in Qezel Hesar, Tabriz, Qom, Kahnuj, Borazjan, Hamedan, Isfahan, Bandar Abbas, and Birjand prisons. This brings the total number of executions in Ordibehesht to 151. On Wednesday, May 21 alone, at least 10 prisoners were executed.
Execution of Jahanshah Afshari, Alim Barahoui, a prisoner named Morteza, and Mazyar Karimi in Qezel Hesar Prison
On the morning of Wednesday, May 21, 2025, Jahanshah Afshari and Alim Barahoui were executed in Qezel Hesar Prison.
- Alim Barahoui, son of Nourallah, 67 years old, married, from and residing in Zahedan, was arrested in 2019 on drug-related charges and sentenced to death.
- Jahanshah Afshari was arrested and sentenced to death on murder charges.
- A prisoner named Morteza, from Mashhad, was previously arrested and sentenced to death on murder charges.
- On the morning of Wednesday, May 7, 2025, Mazyar Karimi, aged 40, was executed in Qezel Hesar Prison. He was arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to death.
Execution of Yasin Hosseinzadeh in Tehran
According to Mizan News Agency, Yasin Hosseinzadeh, aged 56, from Marand and residing in Urmia, was executed in one of Tehran’s prisons on the morning of Wednesday, May 21, 2025. He was accused of an armed attack on the Azerbaijan Embassy and the murder of the embassy’s head of security. The exact location of the execution was not specified by Mizan News Agency.
Execution of Ruhollah Ghahremani in Tabriz Prison
On the morning of Wednesday, May 21, 2025, Ruhollah Ghahremani, aged 30, single, and from Tabriz, was executed in Tabriz Prison. He was arrested 5 years ago on murder charges and sentenced to death.
Execution of Ahmad Bani-Asad in Borazjan Prison
On the morning of Saturday, May 17, 2025, Ahmad Bani-Asad was executed in Borazjan Prison. He was previously arrested and sentenced to death on murder charges.
Execution of Naser Dehar, Ghanbar Ghaffari, and Noureddin Mohammadzadeh in Birjand Prison
On the morning of Wednesday, May 21, 2025, three prisoners named Naser Dehar, Ghanbar Ghaffari, and Noureddin Mohammadzadeh were executed in Birjand Prison. Naser Dehar, aged 40, son of Ahmad, from Miandoab, along with the two others, was arrested in a joint case on drug-related charges and sentenced to death. All three were from Miandoab.
Execution of Saeid Kashani in Hamedan Prison
On the morning of Wednesday, May 21, 2025, Saeid Kashani was executed in Hamedan Prison. He was previously arrested and sentenced to death on murder charges.
Execution of Jaber Shah-Karamzehi, Jafar Ghorbani, and Mohammad Amin Kalsumi in Isfahan Prison
- On the morning of Wednesday, May 21, 2025, Jaber Shah-Karamzehi, son of Ahmad, aged 38, single, from and residing in Khash, was executed in Isfahan Prison. He was arrested in 2018 in Nain County on drug-related charges and sentenced to death. His execution was carried out without a final family visit.
- On the morning of Wednesday, May 14, 2025, Jafar Ghorbani, aged 35, from Kashan, was executed in Isfahan Prison. He was arrested 4 years ago on murder charges and sentenced to death.
- On the morning of Sunday, May 11, 2025, Mohammad Amin Kalsumi was executed in Isfahan Prison. He was arrested 3 years ago on drug-related charges and sentenced to death.
Execution of Abdoljabar Jamalzehi and Yusef Esmaeili in Bandar Abbas Prison
- On the morning of Tuesday, May 20, 2025, Yusef Esmaeili, aged 38, son of Mohammad Khadi Ghorbani, married with two children, from Sardasht, was executed in Bandar Abbas Prison. He was arrested 3 years ago on drug-related charges and sentenced to death. He was deprived of visitation rights during his detention.
- On the morning of Monday, May 19, 2025, Abdoljabar Jamalzehi, an Afghan national from Farah Province, married, was executed in Bandar Abbas Prison. He was previously arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to death.
Execution of Meisam Khazaei in Qom Prison
On the morning of Tuesday, May 20, 2025, Meisam Khazaei was executed in Qom Central Prison. He was previously arrested and sentenced to death on murder charges.
Execution of Abdollah Pashan (Ali Raeisi) in Kahnuj Prison
On the morning of Monday, May 19, 2025, Abdollah Pashan (Ali Raeisi), aged 36, son of Bajar, married with three children, from Rudbar, Kerman, was executed in Kahnuj Prison. He was arrested 4 years ago on drug-related charges and sentenced to death.
