According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at least six prisoners were executed in the central prisons of Karaj, Diesel Abad, and Hamadan on charges of drug possession.
In this way, during the last 9 days at the end of February 2023, 22 prisoners executed in Iranian prisons.
On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, two prisoners executed in Karaj Central Prison, related to drugs. The name of one of them was Hamid Safari. Hamid Safari was 52 years old and the father of 4 children. On February 26, he transferred to be executed.

Another prisoner executed in this prison was Maziar Sultanzadeh, a resident of Azima Karaj, who transferred to the 3rd hall of this prison for execution.
Maziar Sultanzadeh arrested in 2018 on charges of drug possession and was sentenced to death.
He was one of the prisoners who injured by prison officers and transferred to solitary cell after the December 17, 2022 riot in Karaj Central Prison (Karaj Penitentiary).
According to Hengaw, three prisoners executed in Dizel Abad prison in Kermanshah on the same day.
The name and details of one of these prisoners was Kyomarth Sadeghpour. Kiyomarth Sadeghpour was 47 years old, from Karand Gharb.
These three prisoners executed without notifying their lawyers and meeting their families.
In addition, on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, a prisoner executed in Hamadan prison. His identity not known. He also accused of drugs and sentenced to death for this charge.
