Fearing the explosion of people’s anger and the resumption of protests, the government leaders have tried to hide the death of Armita Garavand for several weeks.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, finally, government officials announced the death of Artemis Garavand on Saturday, October 28, 2023. This is despite the fact that the medical staff at Fajr Hospital had reported Artemis Garavand’s condition as critical and irreversible over the past two weeks.
Armita Garavand became unconscious on Monday morning, October 1, 2023, after entering the metro at Tehran’s Shahid Square station. According to witnesses, she lost her balance during a confrontation with the morality police. And then hit her head on the edge of the train platform.
After transferring to the hospital, it determined that she suffered a serious brain injury which resulted in her death.
The government officials are afraid of the explosion of people’s anger and the continuation of protests. So they are trying to hide this issue. Security forces arrested a journalist who wants to prepare a report after transferring Armita Garavand to Fajr Army Hospital.
Guardian newspaper, in an interview eyewitnesses, announced, a morality police officer severely pushed Armita and caused her to fall down.
Threatening Armita’s family and friends by intelligence agents
In these 28 days, the family and friends of the girl heavily threatened by intelligence agents. That they are not allowed to speak about what they had seen. Even the family of this 17-year-old student girl deprived of daily visits to their child in the hospital.
In a cruel act, the government officials brought Armita’s father, mother, and friends in front of the camera several times. And forcefully claim that the reason for her fainting and falling to the ground was due to low blood pressure. But Finally, confessed to the death of Armita.
During this time, the government officials tried to cover up this crime by using the war in Gaza and concealed the actual time of her death for several days. The government officials are afraid of the uprising of protests, similar to the death of Mahsa Amini, which occurred during the series of protests in autumn and winter of 2022.
