Investigation of Tomaj Salehi in Isfahan Revolutionary Court

The Investigation session of Tomaj Salehi held regarding 2 new accusations of “assisting in robbery” and “collecting and colluding to commit crimes against security”. The court also charged for the second time for the charges for which the verdict of acquittal issued

According to the report of the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Sunday, January 20, 2024, an interrogation session of the rapper Tomaj Salehi held in the Revolutionary Court of Isfahan. Tomaj Salehi is accused of being a deputy in a crime, which can lead to the risk of a heavy sentence, including execution. This investigation session and investigation of Tomaj Salehi’s accusation done without prior notification and without the presence of his defense lawyer.

Amir Raisian is the defense lawyer of Tomaj Salehi. He said about his case and the reason for the re-arrest of Tomaj. The charge of Tomaj is informing in the form of a video message about the client’s complaint against the officers of his case.

According to Tomaj’s defense lawyer, an investigation session held regarding 2 new accusations of “assisting in robbery” and “collecting and colluding to commit crimes against security”. Before this, Mr. Raisian, the defense lawyer of Tomaj Salehi, said about his accusations:

In the case related to the September 2022 arrest, Tomaj had 8 charges, of which he convicted of 6 charges and acquitted of 2 charges (collaboration with the hostile government and insulting the leadership). The charge of Moharebeh not confirmed, but he convicted for the comment of article 286. The enforceable sentence was 6 years and three months of imprisonment.

Now, after three months, the Isfahan Revolutionary Court has sent the same case to the prosecutor’s office. And has ordered that two new charges added to Tomaj’s case and also an indictment with 10 charges be issued!”

Tomaj Salehi is a protest rapper. On September 12, 2021, he arrested at his home in Shahin Shahr, Isfahan. And on October 8, 2021, he released on bail (fine and six months of imprisonment suspended for one year). He accused in this case of “propaganda against the regime” and “insulting the leadership”.

Release and arrest in less than 15 days

He arrested again on October 30, 2022, in Borujen city of Chahar Mahal Bakhtiari province. But he released from prison after one year on November 18, 2023. He arrested again on November 30, 2023, by the security forces for publishing a protest video.

Tomaj Salehi is a protest rapper and most of his works are against religious tyranny. He was present in the street with the protesting people in the nationwide protests of 2022. And covered the issue of protests in Iran on his social media pages.
